External Bifold Doors

External bifold doors are a perfect method of drawing in more natural light and granting a heightened sense of spaciousness into any residential or commercial building. Imagine neatly folding your external bifold doors at the edge of the frames on the hottest summer’s day and letting the breeze flow through your living room. External bifold doors encourage more ventilation and natural light ingress than ordinary doors, and are meticulously designed to be a fantastic insulation solution during the colder seasons.

Here at The Glass Door Centre, we design our external bifold doors with longevity, weatherability and efficiency in mind. So we use a combination of thermally broken aluminium, Q-Ion gasket sealant, thick foam, and single-piece gaskets to create the most durable and efficient external bifold doors on the market.

Exterior Bifold Doors

We design and construct our exterior bifold doors to meet high industry standards and encourage longevity. Ordinary doors tend to have frames of high thermal conductivity, which allows the internal heat of your room to seep outwards and reduce the overall atmospheric temperature. However, our exterior bifold doors offer low thermal conductivity to enhance insulation and maintain temperatures without using excessive heat energy.

Paired with low thermally-conducting frames is our Q-Ion sealant, which improves temperature regulation by preventing cold air from ingressing in the winter, and warm air in the summer.

Finally, we include a one-piece welded gasket to eliminate drafts that would usually occur where the gaskets meet. Each of these highly advantageous features provides thermally-efficient, highly stylish, and easy-to-maintain exterior bifold doors made by The Glass Door Centre.

  • What are External Bifold Doors?

External bifold doors can have anywhere from 2 to 6 doors joined together using complicated engineering that allows them to slide around and fold together with ease. They help bring the outdoors inside your home, as the doors open wide to create a portal that makes your room look bigger and feel fresher by allowing in extra air. They are far more secure and durable than other types of doors and a superior option when it comes to aesthetics. Browse our gallery today to view our range!

  • What Is The Best Configuration For An External Bifold Door?

The answer to this question is subjective to the size of the room in which you will be installing your doors. The configuration that will best suit you will also depend on the size of the doors you choose, so it is important to discuss your options with a professional who will point you in the right direction. Reference our configurations page to find out more about the different door configurations and contact us today to have one of our highly-experienced team members recommend the door that will be best for you and your needs.

  • What Size Are External Bifold Doors?

The minimum size available is around 1800mm and consists of a trio of 570mm panels. As your size requirements get bigger, more panels are added. The maximum size for a bifold door is normally slightly under five metres. These doors can replace walls using aluminium frames to support the heavier glass used in larger doors. Here at Glass Door Centre, we manufacture bespoke bifold doors to each exact measurement to ensure that you receive the door you need. We understand that not one size fits all, which is why we offer a form to fill out when you request a quote to understand your requirements and provide you with an accurate cost estimate.

  • How Do I Stop Condensation On My External Bifold Door?

Condensation is a natural process that occurs when the moisture in the air undergoes temperature fluctuations. For this reason, no specific type of door will eliminate condensation, and the best you can do is take measures to ensure that condensation is delayed. Condensation is most evident in September and October. But there is no great cause for concern if you ensure that your room is well ventilated and you regularly wipe away any moisture that accumulates at the bottom of your door. You could also monitor your household heating so you don’t inadvertently contribute to the development of condensation, which could breed mold if left unchecked.
